Seeking Director to Launch Program - New BioInspire
BioAccel is seeking a Director for BioInspire, a public private partnership between the City of Peoria and BioAccel.
BioInspire is a BIOMEDICAL DEVICE INCUBATOR that will actively promote the development of a new industry sector by accelerating new company and job creation resulting in positive economic growth within the City of Peoria, Arizona. Arizona has one of the fastest growing bioscience communities in the US; annual total economic activity is now $28.8 billion. It has a particularly robust medical device sector, which constitutes 32% of Arizona’s non-hospital bioscience employment. With first-class research institutions and an industry spanning from one-person shops to industry giants, Arizona has it all, and Peoria is a great place to launch a dedicated biomedical device facility.
The facility will be referred to as “BioInspire; bringing together the ideas of … -Innovation -Incubation and -Acceleration. The City of Peoria is partnering with BioAccel, a non-profit organization that is creating positive economic impact by accelerating the commercialization of late stage discovery research. This partnership with BioAccel provides both structure and function that is not found in other Technology Accelerators or Incubators; whether they exist in the Phoenix area, statewide or beyond. Companies who enter BioInspire will increase their potential for success through the immediate access to and utilization of BioAccel’s integrated service and partner network. BioInspire will address the Valley of Death challenge faced when developing new technology by offering resources such as funding support, Business Plan review, Technology review, Regulatory (FDA) assistance and access to pre-qualified prototyping and manufacturing firms. These services will not only propel BioInspire’s tenants forward in their quest for Commercialization, but also increase their chances for success as a viable new company.
BioInspire is addressing the key issues surrounding the challenge of commercializing life science devices by providing assistance in proof of concept and seed funding, partnerships and high-level mentorship. The graphic captures how BioInspire will help companies move from discovery, through development and into the marketplace. BioInspire will help bridge the gaps between development and commercialization – helping to ensure that each company will maximize its success potential, graduate into other City facilities, expand, add jobs and create positive economic impact.
